Allen T Matsumoto was born in Hayford, Spokane County, Washington on October 22, 1931. His parents were Fred Kazue Matsumoto (HiroshimaKen) and Kiyoko Matsumoto (EhimeKen). He grew up on a family farm with brothers John A, William Y, Ronald S and sister Sakae. He attended Hayford Grade School, Cheney Jr and Sr High Schools. He graduated from Eastern Washington College, attended graduate school at the University of Washington, UCLA and received an Executive MBA at Dartmouth College. He was drafted into the US Army during the Korean War but was assigned to the 7775 Signal Service Unit in LaRochelle, France due to a critical need for Communications specialists in the European Command. In 1958, he joined The Boeing Company as an Associate Engineer and retired in 1994 as the Director of Advanced Computing Technology. He and his wife, Janice, make their home in Normandy Park, WA, they have a son David (Carmen), daughter Amy and grandson Kyle Hayes.
