Born in San Jose, CA on Sept. 12, 1940. Family moved to Garland, UT during WW II rather than relocate to camps. Family worked as farm laborers on farms in Utah.
In 1943, family moved to Weiser, ID where family worked on various farms in the Idaho-Oregon area. In 1951, family moved to Moses Lake, WA to farm in the new farming area created by the irrigation waters from Grand Coulee Dam.
Graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1958 and received BS in Mechanical Engineering degree from Washington State University. Received an Army ROTC commission from Washington State University.
First assignment following college graduation was Ft. Belvoir, VA. This was quickly followed by Airborne school at Ft. Benning,GA. Late in 1963, assigned to Army construction site at Korat, Thailand with 809th Engineer Construction Battalion. Later moved to central Thailand to begin construction of an all weather highway from the Gulf of Siam to Korat. 809th Engineers were utilized to analyze and design airfields in Vietnam during the early build up of US Forces. Not involved in combat during the Vietnam war.
In 1965, assigned to the 5th Infantry Div. at Ft. Carson, CO. Completed active duty late 1965, followed by 2 years of active reserves at Ft. Lawton, WA.
Employeed by Boeing from 1965 to 1972 as an engineer. Joined Dean Witter as a broker in the Seattle office during 1972. Retired in Summer 2006 from Morgan Stanley (formerly Dean Witter).
Married with two sons and two grandsons.
