Sumiko Kido was born November 25, 1917 in Oakland, CA to Meiji and Tora Akimitsu Kido. She graduated from McClymonds High School in 1936 and the Imagire Sewing School in 1940.
She was relocated to an internment camp in Topaz,Utah in 1942 during World War II with her mother and her brothers John and George (sister Matsuye was in interned). While at Topaz, she was and elementary school teacher for interned children.
On September 6, 1944, she married Tatsuo Koga in Ogden, where she resided until her death in 1995. They had nine children, Earl, Glen, Sharon, Dean, Gene, Brenda, Maya, Steven and LaVerne.
She was active in the Buddhist Church in Ogden, President of the Fujinkai and the Japanese American Citizens League.
