Yoshio was a native of Bainbridge Island and during the war was relocated with his family to Minidoka. As the oldest sibling, he left camp to go to work in Chicago and sent much of his wages back to help the family who remained in camp. While in Chicago, he married Toshiko Nakagawa and following the end of the war, he and his wife returned to live on Bainbridge Island. The family moved to Seattle in 1956 where he resided until his death in 1999.
