Born at "Camp Harmony" assembly center in Puyallup, in 1942, to Kiyomitsu and Toshiko Yakushijin. Graduated from Franklin High School and the University of Washington. Taught at Rainier Beach Jr.&Sr. High School and Cleveland High School. Obtained an advanced degree in Educational Administration from Seattle University, and worked as an assistant principal at Cleveland and Ballard High Schools. Retired as a principal at West Seattle High School after 25 years with the district. Supervised student teachers at Seattle University and City University, and was placement coordinator for the MIT program at City University before completely retiring. Currently volunteers for Nikkei Concerns as a driver for their various programs.
